Transfer Systems
One the most
crucial aspect of isolation technology is the transfer
of product/waste into and out of the containment
systems, whether potent or sterile.
ACE have designed, manufactured and validated many
systems over the years from separate transfer chambers
to our own highly engineered Rapid transfer Port
systems. |

CONTAINED TRANSFER SYSTEM (RAPID
TRANSFER PORT - RTP)
An important product within ACE’s
extensive range purposely designed to be a safe method
of transferring product / waste or items into or out of
contained or sterile areas is ACE’s Rapid Transfer Port.
ACE RTP’s are supplied with a unique identification in
the form of a permanently engraved serial number.
The Rapid Transfer Port (RTP) consists of:-
The Active Assembly Consisting of an active door
complete with an active frame and latch. The active
assembly is usually fitted to the inside of the Isolator
/ Barrier.
The Passive Assembly Consisting of a passive door
complete with the passive frame. The passive assembly is
usually attached to a transfer device.
The basis of the design is that the two normally exposed
surfaces to the external conditions (i.e. the active
door outer surface and the passive door outer surface)
are locked and sealed together and never come into
contact with the environment inside the barrier.
All ACE RTP’s are fitted with an interlock which has
been designed to prevent accidental breaching of a
contained or sterile system and therefore performs the
following functions:-
|
■ |
To prevent inadvertent opening of
the Active door without a canister/passive assembly
in place |
|
■ |
To prevent inadvertent undocking
of a canister/passive assembly when the door is not
properly closed. |
ACE RTP’s are available in a varied range of sizes and
materials to proved a wide scale of containment
solutions. |

TRANSFER CANISTERS
Transfer canisters are extensively
used in conjunction with the ACE range of
purposely-designed Rapid Transfer Ports. Their purpose
is to provide a safe method of transferring product /
waste or items into or out of contained or sterile
areas.
The transfer canisters are purpose designed for the type
of transfer operation to be undertaken. In their
assembled state they are sealed containers, which cannot
(under normal circumstances) be opened without
‘docking-on’ to the appropriate ‘Active door’.
Due to the various sizes, shapes and different
components requiring the use of rapid transfer method,
transfer canisters are available in a variety of sizes,
shapes and materials. The equipment to be transferred
dictates the final factor for each specification.
The objective of the RTP canisters is to provide dual
containment protection during the transfer of
components, products or waste to and from the
containment system as follows:-
|
■ |
Protection of cleaned and/or
sterilised components from external contamination in
transfer to the containment device / isolation
equipment. |
|
■ |
Containment of contaminated
components preventing exposure to the external
environment in transfer from the containment device
/ isolation equipment. |

MOBILE STATION
This mobile station was designed
when access and intervention were a prime requirement
during a project for reactor charging.
As the key requirement was for this type of unit to be
removable, a mobile station was designed to house the
HVAC, controls & instrumentation.
The design was such that the Isolator could be
positioned on the mobile station and wheeled into
location. The Isolator could then be lifted from its
mobile station and connected to the reactor. Quick
connections were provided for services with exhaust to
the client system to vent the Nitrogen atmosphere.
The mobile workstation and is fitted with 4 braked
castors, the two front castors have a swivel action
feature to allow ease of manoeuvring.
The station is fabricated from 3mm thick 316 stainless
steel and is polished to a 240 grit (0,64 micron)
finish. |
